Launched
in 1994, nightclubbiz.com has maintained itself as the
international leader in solid, no nonsense information. Much
of the information and operational philosophies are derived
through extensive analysis of the broad level entertainment
industry, as well as working with nightclub operators worldwide.
Demand
for hot entertainment offerings could never be higher, yet
failure rates continue to demonstrate how many nightclubs
remain completely out of sync with today's rapidly
evolving entertainment consumer.
We
will not deceive you with quick fixes, misinformation,
and expert promises of guaranteed nightclub success. We
will however, substantially increase your odds of existing
within the 20% of players that make 80% of the money, while
the remaining 80% fight for the leftovers... And how? Through
the power of education of course :-)
Let's
define failure
Failures
in the nightclub and bar industry can emerge in many various
flavors. Unfortunatly, this industry is amoungst the slowest
to learn from its mistakes, and or the mistakes of others
for that matter. As a result, the failure rate still averages
75 to 80% accross the broader level industry spectrum.
Note:
An entertainment venture failure is not limited to
bankruptcy. Entertainment venues that:
-
Struggle to maintain a single night of business
- Rely
on one-off promo events
- Can
barely cover operating costs
- Can
rarely reach capacity
- Can
not attract a single soul without a special event
- In
trouble with local authorities
- Are
barely profitable... Also constitute failure in this industry...
Make
sure an entertainment investment is what you really want!
Operating
a nightclub is a tremendous undertaking. The reward can be
an exceptionally high cash flow business venture. Now... If
you're content with modest returns, please save yourself the
headache and don't get yourself involved with a nightclub
operation. There are many franchises available, which may
not yield the cash flow a nightclub does, however you'll deal
with a lot less headaches if all you're looking for is a modest
return for your efforts.
No
I'm not being a wise guy, I'm being serious! There are
numerous other opportunities that can yield a decent return
on investment for a lot less risk. Entertainment ventures
are different in that the sky is the limit in terms of fiscal
performance, BUT also exhibit twice the risk of most other
ventures, and a LOT more work! Please make sure you know what
you're getting into and if not, talk
to me first.
So
why fixate on all the negative aspects of a nightclub venture?
Because
a clearly defined understanding of what went wrong
is key to developing concepts "that will go right"
and in this business MANY things seem to have a habit of going
horribly WRONG, no matter how well intended. Many newcomers
seem to content on ignoring this reality, as they seem to
think they have the idea, trend, or concept that's going to
surpass all. These people also represent about 70% of nightclub
failures, and are also responsible for the resulting disasters
that occur within their so-called nightclubs -the ones that
appear on Monday morning headlines, and or the local TV station.
As
a result, nightclubbiz.com avoids the screaming and hype-based
promises of 'quick success' often observed on other websites.
There are an awful lot of misguided individuals claiming to
be experts on the web and thus a sea of misinformation, which
continues to leave both newcomers and current entertainment
operators in a complete state of confusion.
The
collective knowledge of numerous nightclub concepts, successes,
and failures worldwide
Instead of basing our services on the flavor of the moment
trend, music, promotion, or.. Simply fixating on the elementary
aspects of the day-to-day operation, we've invested 15 years
into the analysis of numerous types of social entertainment
ventures. We worked our own clubs, but more importantly
have worked, consulted, or advised numerous operations in
the U.S., Canada, Australia, the UK, Greece, Russia, Cyprus,
Barbados, Quatar, and more.
This
experience has substantially broadened our understanding of
the consumer entertainment marketplace. In essence, our knowledge
encompasses the failures, successes, and experiences of 330
individual entities. Rest assured.. Nightclubbiz.com
is not based on yet another self-appointed experts idealistic
perspective of an entertainment venue.
Is
there a nightclub operations IQ?
Look
at it this way: If their was such a thing as a nightclub operations
IQ, and let's say it averaged somewhere in the sub 80's, we'd
score in the high 200's. 10% make most of the money in this
business for a very good reason: They're enlightened...
So
all that free nightclub information floating around the web
is useless?
Not
exactly. Much of the information that's available appears
to focus on the elementary facets of the operation. For example,
cash systems, staffing, bartending, design, operational costs,
promotions and so fourth. Others take it a step further by
arbitrarily advertising themselves as experts of some sort
through a barrage of hype based claims, promises, and portfolios
that could never be verified in a hundred years. Much of the
pitch seems to target peoples impulsive desire to get
into the nightclub entertainment business as quickly and as
painlessly as possible. Nothing new about that marketing tactic
:-)
This
business is driven by a great deal of emotion and quite often
clouding the ability of a balanced intellectual component.
This clouded type of mindset is largely responsible for the
ill thought out ideas, approaches, and antics, which are responsible
for the vast majority of disasters and failures in this arena.
So
how is nightclubbiz.com so much different?
For
one, we're able to see the broad level industry with an enhanced
degree of clarity. Our thinking and approach is more focused
on the mindset of the actual consumer, as they relate to your
'specific' marketplace. Whether it's general consulting, or
working with you in the development stages, our concept engineering
is 'based on market understanding', not wild guessing, or
a generalized approach --something that is commonplace in
this industry.
How
about merely following a trend?
Don't
be silly... That sort of thinking is so dated, it's not even
funny anymore. Consumer mindset is "indigenous to a marketplace."
It can't be altered, dictated, or influenced by something
occurring in an alternate marketplace. Successful entertainment
concepts are built on an intimate understanding of the unique
characteristics of the "target" market climate.
There's no cheap and simple away around this!
The
only things remotely reassembling a trend are possibly...
Décor schemes, and to a smaller extent music styles.
Please don't put your soul faith in these. The corporate influence
of pop culture does not influence as much as it likes to think
it does :-) Think twice before putting your faith in them!
Suffice
it to say, the social entertainment consumer is both fickle
and complex, which can make them a VERY tough audience to
understand. In essence, employing the use of a trend to address
the unique mindset of a marketplace would be about
as useful as trying to repair a 747 Jumbo Jet, armed only
with a screwdriver. Keep it in perspective folks!
