Video clips of one social entertainment venue PDF Print
Sunday, 21 February 2010 20:29

One of the better entertainment experiences in Second Life is a venue called Midnight Reflections. Capturing video in the virtual world is somewhat difficult, however these experimental videos shot in HD are showing a little more promise. Note that a video clip CANNOT capture the same experience or quality as actually being logged into the virtual world itself.

These videos were shot during the early morning hours when the venue was operating at 'minimal capacity'. Also note that the ID tags, identifying each Avatar, as well as the open public chat usually seen scrolling up the left side of your screen were canceled out of these videos.

The night videos are DARK… Far more darker than they SHOULD be, but the videographer is working on it. No… The simulator is not actually this dark at night, so seeing the environment outside of the dance floor area may be a little difficult for some viewers.

Warning... May not be quite what you were expecting to see

Large view, lower quality video

Smaller view, High Definition /ultra high quality

The high definition videos are smaller, but will really demonstrate the detail within the virtual world environment.

What these videos do not display:

  • The essence of the environment
  • The social mindset
  • The mood of the environment
  • Nametags, usually seen over the Avatar's heads have been disabled for these videos
  • The open chat display is also disabled for these videos
  • The venue is at less than 25% capacity in both of these videos
  • The music you're listening to is the actual music being broadcasted onto the island at the time of video shoot.

So all you're really seeing here is a tiny glimpse inside. This is a full island /simulator. Encompassing 16 acres of mountains, waterways, and a floating dance floor. You'll also find numerous private walkways, boardwalks, skyboxes, caves, and many hidden romantic areas. The entire island takes at least 45, to 60 minutes to fully explore. Midnight Reflections has been in existence for 4-years. Many friendships, relationships, romances, virtual world marriages, and several real life marriages have began here.
